The Nokia N9 is a soon-to-be released handset that offers sumptuous levels of technology, combined with typically Nokia styling. The unit is powered by a 1 GHz Cortex A8 processor and utilises the MeeGo operating system and has dimensions of 116 mm x 61 mm wide whilst being 12 mm thick and weighing 135 g in weight.
The handset comes with a 3.9 inch AMOLED capacitive display screen which apart from offering outstanding quality image display, also provides touch screen functionality. The screen itself is able to display up to 16 million colour combinations, within a pixel screen resolution that is 480 x 854 pixels in size. The screen comes with antiglare and scratch resistant properties, thereby increasing longevity of the screen. In addition the unit comes with proximity and accelerometer sensors which automate a variety of tasks.
From a connectivity perspective the unit comes with a multitude of options which include Internet access by virtue of either the Wi Fi option, allowing the user to access available hotspots, or alternatively its own HSDPA connection which offers speeds of up to 14.4 Mbps. In addition the unit comes with class 33 versions of GPRS and EDGE, whilst also offering the standard elements of blue tooth and micro-USB connectivity. The unit comes with satellite navigation which is aided by the fact that it also offers A-GPS support and also incorporates Ovi apps.
Additional functionality includes an 8.0 megapixel camera which utilises Carl Zeiss optics and not only takes effective still imagery, but can also be utilised to record video at 720 pixels and at 30 frames second, whilst a secondary camera is also provided. The unit also comes with a selection of games, an MP4/MP3 multimedia player, video/photo editor, voice memo facility as well as predictive text input. One of the key features of this handset is the fact that it also offers NFC support, which allows the transferring of information through near field communication devices.
